A psychological lesbian thriller featuring a closed-circle mystery, corporate rivals, and a killer hiding in plain sight.
Six corporate rivals. One remote mountain retreat. Two bodies. Everyone has secrets. One of them is a killer.
VeriScan AI can detect deep fakes, but CEO Abigail Elsher cannot fix the fractures in her own executive team. What begins as a high-stakes team-building retreat quickly turns into something far more dangerous when one of them is found dead.
Then another.
Because the killer never left.
Cut off from the outside world, suspicion spreads as fast as fear. Professional masks fall away. Alliances shift. And the truth becomes harder to trust with every passing hour.
Because the most dangerous lies are not the ones you see coming.
Set in an isolated mountain retreat, No Way Out delivers a gripping psychological lesbian thriller where ambition, betrayal, and survival collide. Expect a locked-room mystery, corporate power plays, and tension that tightens with every reveal.
In a place where no one can leave, every choice matters.
And trusting the wrong person could be fatal.

PROLOGUE
SATURDAY MORNING
Six hours, twenty-nine minutes and thirty-three seconds ago, I murdered someone.
I didn't come here intending to kill. Truth be told, it had never crossed my mind until that moment. I mean, we all say these things, don't we? I'll kill them! Or her, or him. I'd wager you've said those exact words at least once in your life…possibly more.
We fool ourselves into believing we don't mean it, but until we're pushed, none of us know what we are capable of. Perhaps it just takes meeting someone who truly deserves your wrath, and then being afforded the perfect opportunity (knowing we won't be caught) for you to make a sinister choice.
Oh, it's so easy to sit there shaking your head at me, telling yourself I could never do that. I don't have the capacity for such heinous actions. Well, I am here to tell you that you are wrong. That moral high ground you are clinging to so desperately is nothing more than an illusion, an island of sand, constantly being eroded by incessant waves. Trust me, I know. All it takes is that one freak violent storm, no doubt with some innocuous name like Colin, and you'll be drowning and desperate like the rest of us. Ready to do whatever it takes to survive, and in doing so, you'll uncover depths to your soul far more dangerous than you can imagine, because I was the last person anyone would suspect.
In each of us, there lies a place where the light cannot reach, where evil resides, for what is evil if not the absence of light.
Still, it is a laughable irony that I was handed my opportunity at a corporate team-building retreat. Hallelujah for Human Resources.

When bonds break, the truth bleeds.
In a world where artificial intelligence can sift through the veils of reality to expose deep fakes, the human heart remains an enigma, riddled with secrets far more complex than any algorithm.
VeriScan AI stands at the forefront of the battle against digital deceit, led by CEO Abigail Elsher. Yet, beneath the surface of groundbreaking innovation, the fabric of trust within her executive team is frayed to its breaking point.
In a desperate bid to mend what's been torn, a team bonding weekend is arranged with the hope of rebuilding unity. Little do they know it will become a crucible of suspense, betrayal, and murder.
As the retreat spirals into a chilling game of survival, the veil of professional courtesies is torn away, revealing the raw, unvarnished truths of those who once claimed loyalty. Every twist and turn delves deeper into the psyche of its characters, peeling back layers to expose the dark heart of ambition and the perilous edge of human frailty.
When one of their own is found dead, the line between ally and adversary blurs, leaving every whispered secret and shared memory suspect. In this high-stakes game of shadows, the participants must confront the most harrowing question: when the bonds of trust are severed, how do you discern the truth from the lies?
For fans of Harlan Coben, this novel promises a journey through the labyrinth of the mind, where the only certainty is the inexorable force of Karma.

No Way Out is a psychological thriller with more twists and turns than a Rubik’s Cube. I usually give a book fifty pages to fully draw me in; this one had me locked in from the very first sentence.
“Six hours, twenty-nine minutes and thirty-three seconds ago, I murdered someone.”
What follows is a masterclass in misdirection. Just when you think you’ve figured things out, Ruby Scott pivots and sends the reader in an entirely different direction. Despite the shifting timelines and multiple perspectives, the story is easy to follow. Nothing feels confusing; every shift feels intentional, making this a tightly plotted, expertly crafted novel.
The suspense never lets up. Although the murder occurs in the opening line, we do not learn the full details of the crime until almost the very end. The tension is sustained, the pacing sharp, and the payoff deeply satisfying.
This is as good a whodunit as I have read in a long time. And while I firmly believe nobody did the genre quite like Agatha Christie, No Way Out earns its place in that conversation.
Highly recommended.
Wow! What a ride that was! This story grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and carried me along through ups, downs, ins, outs and twists and turns that left me exhausted and exhilarated! I started reading this while on holiday but since returning, catching up on work, and sneaking in a short story by Ruby Scott, I was only halfway through when I climbed into bed at 10.30pm thinking I would just get a chapter or two in before going to sleep. At 2am I finally closed my kindle having read right through to the end! The first half of the book takes you along at a gentle, free-flowing pace, easing you in, introducing you to each character, making you think you know exactly where this is taking you and who is going to do what. Then you find you have hit the rapids, and you are not getting out anytime soon! I let myself be drawn deeply into the storyline and into each personality and I was manipulated beautifully into making assumptions and believing what the authors wanted me to believe, even though I felt something wasn’t quite right. Everything I thought I had figured out, how I felt about each character? All wrong!! I have never had my head turned upside down so much and said out loud “well, damn! I was not expecting that, or that, or that!” How worryingly easy it can be, to be fooled by someone who you trust and believe in only to find their personality and motives are not what you originally think. This story is a brilliant thriller full of mystery, deception, intrigue and humour. Susie Fleming and Ruby Scott - the best authors ever!
It just goes to show, sometimes you really should trust your gut instincts. But I let myself get drawn in and subtly manipulated by the brilliant misdirections of this story. And as one of my favorite lines says, "when lesbians close ranks, you don't see it coming." It's full of dark humor, sharp wit, and high emotions that will keep you glued through every new revelation and twist. This is truly a fantastic read.
This book was everything that I didn’t know I needed! I delved into ‘No Way Out’ on the back of a book hangover which demanded that I read something gripping and gritty, and this book delivered on both fronts! 👏🏼
It is bursting at the seams with tension, drama, intrigue, suspense, and more twists than a damn corkscrew! I was pretty much frustrated for the majority of this book, happy to stew in my anger towards specific characters, only for Susie Fleming&Ruby Scott to flip the script once more! I felt utterly manipulated, chapter by chapter, until the very last page, and I bloody loved it! 🙌🏼
‘No Way Out’ is like riding a wild rollercoaster, all the adrenaline, emotions, the ups and the downs. And just when you think you’ve worked it out and sit there smiling smugly half way through, the damn thing jolts and takes the return journey backwards, leaving you screaming WT actual F?!
Lastly, I have to give a shout-out to the dark humour in this book, it was entirely genius! I mean… ‘Her face cracks open wider than a porn star on heat as she beams at him adoringly.’ Just glorious. 🤣
Outstanding thriller, fun like Clue on steroids, and with lesbians. Scathing humor in dialogue and laugh out loud situations, but none of that keeps the intrigue, twists, suspects, and criming from maintaining suspense throughout the book.
