Who is Ruby Scott?

I'm a lesbian romance author based in Scotland. I write slow burn sapphic fiction across contemporary, medical, erotic, romantasy, and thriller subgenres. Two Lesfic Bard Award wins, two GCLS Goldie Award finalist nods, and twenty-plus novels later, I still write the books I want to read. You can find every one of them on this shop, often signed, often bundled, always delivered direct.

What awards has Ruby Scott won?

Two Lesfic Bard Awards (the readers' choice awards for lesbian fiction) and twice a finalist for the Goldie Awards from the Golden Crown Literary Society. My work has also been translated into German and Spanish, and produced in audiobook across all major platforms.

Does Ruby Scott write under any other names?

Yes. As Frankie Duncan I write softer contemporary lesbian romance (First Comes Love, Love in Action, Her Christmas Escape). As Susie Fleming I write lesbian crime fiction.

What genres does Ruby Scott write?

Slow burn sapphic romance, erotic lesbian romance, sapphic medical romance, sapphic spy thrillers, lesbian sports romance, and sapphic romantasy. Some books fall into more than one. The Healing Hearts series is mountain romance with found family. Blood Marks is vampires and slow burn. The Art of Deception is espionage with romance underneath the threat.

Reading Order

What order should I read Ruby Scott's books in?

Every series can be read as standalones, but they hit harder in order. Quick guide:

Where should a new reader start?

Honest answer: depends what mood you're in. If you want something slow, emotional, set somewhere beautiful, start with Wild Hearts. If you want the dominant/submissive dynamic done with care, Desire's Truth. If you want a vampire who is genuinely menacing and a heroine who can hold her own, Blood Marks. If you just want a one-night standalone, Evergreen.

Can I read the series out of order?

Yes. Each book closes its own arc. But series secondary characters reappear, and certain emotional beats land deeper if you've watched the build. I write the order on purpose.

What's the difference between a paperback and a signed paperback?

The signed paperback is identical to the trade paperback in content, but it's inscribed by me personally, hand-wrapped, and shipped in a gift box with extras tucked inside. The unsigned paperback is the same book without the inscription or the gift packaging. Signed paperbacks cost a little more because of the inscription work, gift wrap and goodies tucked inside. You also get a unique discount code for you with each signed paperback. 

What is a signed ebook?

A digital edition of the book containing a real personal signature from me, plus original art inside the file. Same story as the standard ebook, but the file itself includes the signed page. Delivered via BookFunnel and readable on any device.

Can I get an ebook I bought elsewhere signed?

No. Only Ebooks bought direct form me can be signed. Use the "Sign My Existing eBook" product on this shop if you want a previously bought Ebook signed. 

Are the ebooks DRM-free?

Yes. All ebooks are delivered through BookFunnel as DRM-free EPUB or MOBI. You own them and can read them on any device or app.

How do I read or listen to a book I buy from rubyscott.shop?

You'll get an email from BookFunnel with download links. Open it on your phone, tablet, e-reader, or computer. Audiobooks play in the BookFunnel app (iOS, Android, or any browser). If you have any trouble, BookFunnel's support is fast and helpful, and so am I.

Are the audiobooks the same as the Audible versions?

Same recordings. Different delivery. When you buy from this shop, you get the audiobook through BookFunnel and you keep it forever, no subscription required. Audiobooks bought from me are always cheaper. 

Bundles and Deals

Why are the bundles so much cheaper?

Two reasons. First, you're buying direct, so there's no platform taking a cut. Second, I'd rather you read the whole series than just one book. The discount reflects both.

How much do bundles save?

Between 10 percent and 45 percent off the combined retail price, depending on the bundle. The Ultimate Ruby Scott Lesbian Fiction Ebook Bundle saves the most.

Which bundle is best for a new reader?

Can I bundle audiobooks?

Yes. There's a dedicated Audiobook Bundles collection. The Awakening of Desire Audiobook bundle is available and there is an option to pair it with an ebook, signed ebook and signed paperback bundle for those who want to read and listen at the same time.

Shipping and Delivery

Where does signed paperback shipping come from?

From Scotland. I package and ship every signed copy myself with a little help from my wife Angie.

How long does signed paperback shipping take?

Signed books are dispatched within 7 to 10 business days of order. Delivery time after that depends on where you are. UK orders usually arrive within a few days of dispatch, US and EU orders within one to two weeks, rest of world a little longer.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, worldwide. Tracked and insured.

Will I be charged import duties or customs fees?

Depending on your country, possibly. Couriers sometimes charge import duty, tax, or a handling fee on arrival. These aren't included in the shipping price. Please check your local rules.

My signed book hasn't arrived. What now?

Email ruby@rubyscott.com with your order number. Most "missing" parcels turn out to be sitting at a depot or with a neighbour, but if it's actually lost I'll resolve it.

Why do you need a phone number for shipping?

Some couriers insist on it for delivery notifications, especially internationally. I won't use it for anything else.

Ordering and Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, PayPal, all major credit and debit cards, and a few regional methods (Bancontact, iDEAL, Klarna where available).

Can I change my shipping address after ordering?

If the book hasn't shipped yet, yes. Email ruby@rubyscott.com fast with the new address and your order number.

Can I add a personal dedication to my signed book?

Yes. Email ruby@rubyscott.com with your order number and the inscription you want. The default is your name plus a short message from me.

Do you do gift orders?

Yes. Add the recipient's address as the shipping address and email me with any dedication you'd like written inside. Gift cards are also available.

What's your refund policy?

Digital products and audiobooks: not refundable once delivered, since they can't be unreceived. Full policy on the Refund Policy page. 

Print Books – Returns & Refunds

All of our paperbacks are printed on demand, which means they are custom-made for each order. Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, made-to-order items are exempt from standard change-of-mind returns.

However, if your book arrives faulty, damaged, or incorrect, we absolutely want to make it right. In these cases, please email us at ruby@rubyscott.com within 7 days of receiving your order (based on delivery tracking).

Translations and Audiobooks

Are Ruby Scott books available in other languages?

Yes. Most of my catalogue is available in German. A growing list of titles is in Spanish. Check the German Translations and Spanish Translations collections in the menu. Coming soon will be French, Italian and Portuguese translations.

Are all books available in audiobook?

Some. New releases land in audio a few months after the ebook and paperback. Check each book's product page for the audiobook option.

Who narrates the audiobooks?

Different narrators by series, all chosen for fit. Narrator names are listed on each audiobook product page. Abby Craden narrates The Healing Heart Series. Amber Heart narrates An Awakening of Desire series.

Returns, Refunds, and Problems

My ebook download didn't work. What do I do?

Email BookFunnel directly through the link in your delivery email, or email ruby@rubyscott.com and I'll chase it.

The book I ordered is damaged. What now?

Email ruby@rubyscott.com with your order number and a photo of the damage. I'll send a replacement.

Can I cancel a preorder?

Yes, before the book ships. Email me with your order number.

Buying and Getting Your Books

If I buy an e-book, how do I read it or get it on my device?

Once you purchase an ebook, you will get an order
confirmation email with a link to your books. You'll also get an email
from help@bookfunnel.com with a link to download the ebook, or you can
send the ebook directly to your favorite device. Just follow the
instructions and you'll be reading in no time!

If the email
hasn’t arrived in 10 minutes after your purchase, please look for it in
your Spam folder or your Promotions folder if you're on Gmail.

You can also find your ebooks in your Bookfunnel library at https://My.BookFunnel.com. Log into BookFunnel with the email you used to purchase/download your books.

If I buy a print book, how long will it take to arrive?

It depends which country you're in, and which shipping option you choose at checkout.

As
an independent author working with an independent printer, I can't
offer free or next-day shipping, like the big online stores, but the
quality of the books is excellent, and you're supporting a stronger
creative eco-system.

Each book is printed individually and sent to
you from the independent printer I use. The books are printed and sent
from the US for US customers, and from the UK for other countries.

The printing can take from 3 to 10 business days, and the shipping time varies per location.

Remember
to verify your address and email before completing a purchase. You will
be responsible for reshipment costs due to an insufficient or incorrect
addresses. 

IMPORTANT: Depending on your location (especially if you are in the EU)
import duties, fees and taxes may be charged by your courier on
delivery. We cannot control the application of taxes in each country.

Can I buy a signed copy of your book?

Yes, signed copies of all my books are available.

Simply click on "Shop by Format" and select "Signed books". Then choose your paperback and tell me your name and/or personalised message you'd like me to include.

Why should I buy direct from you, the author?

If you buy direct, I get paid within hours or
days, rather than months — which helps me create more books.
