Oh Ruby Scott, where do I even begin?!
My little lesbian heart doesn’t just thank you for writing this story, it’s quite literally ordering flowers, wine, and a chocolate-covered fruit basket! 😅
I adored Exposed Hearts when I first read it, so I already knew exactly what I was getting myself into with the audiobook… or at least I thought I did. Because then Abby Craden came along and somehow made me fall in love with Frankie and Bridge all over again.
Abby absolutely nailed these two. They sounded so ridiculously close to the voices I’d already created for them in my head while reading the paperback. Frankie’s humour, warmth and sexiness, Bridge’s… well, everything. 🔥 The voices just fit them perfectly.
And can we please talk about Abby’s Connor voice?! So. Damn. On. Point. 😂 Every time he appeared, I grinned because that was exactly how Connor should sound.
Of course, I still had my moment from chapter one… 👀
‘Chalk-dusted. Long-fingered. It found the lip of the rock and gripped…’
I won’t elaborate because spoilers, but hearing that scene narrated? Cue the sapphic swooning all over again. Hands-down one of the greatest main character entrances in sapphic fiction!
Bridge and Frankie remain one of my favourite Ruby pairings. They’re funny, sexy, heart-warming and just ridiculously good together. Two very different women finding each other at exactly the right time, with enough heat and chemistry to make listening in public a questionable life choice. 😅
Ruby Scott’s writing, Abby Craden’s voice and Bridge Cahill might genuinely be the holy trinity. 🙌🏼🔥

Abby Craden's voice is a balm on chalked hands
This is such a lovely way to describe them. Frankie and Bridge really do fit together because neither of them asks the other to become someone different. They just keep choosing each other, one day at a time.
And “Abby Craden’s voice is a balm on chalked hands” might be one of my favourite descriptions of her narration ever. Absolutely perfect.

This story has one of my favourite main character entrances and ‘straight to it’ starts in any book I’ve read. You might be concerned about how the story can proceed after such a good start, but Ruby’s imaginative, diligent and skilled writing makes sure you continue to be hooked right through to the end.
Abby Craden is the ideal narrator for all these stories as she really does an excellent job of giving all the characters their voices, capturing the emotional scenes perfectly and making it easy to get lost in the story and very hard to stop listening.
Bridge really is a strong individual whose background keeps her distant in a way that she thinks is required for her to deal with her past and to do what she does. Frankie, well, she has such a great personality you can’t help falling for her, but it’s her patience and understanding that make her even more attractive and she is a perfect match for Bridge. The combination of the two with the vulnerabilities they try to hide, their care for each other, and for Maple, makes for such a sweet and hot couple and you want them to get their happy ending so badly. In addition, there is the growing Elk Ridge family, full of great characters and big personalities and you can’t help but love them all.
I will never tire of reading or listening to these wonderful stories.
